Maca is a root that grows at extreme elevations high in the Andean
Mountains of Peru. It looks like a little turnip or radish and is a
traditional staple food in Peru. Its Latin name is Lepidium Peruvianum
Chacon. It's also known as Peruvian ginseng, or Amazonian ginseng, but isn't related to ginseng at all. This large family of flowering plants is widely studied for their medicinal properties and includes familiar, similarly nutritious vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower and kale.
Maca is known to contain various nutrients, including amino acids and minerals. Maca also contains sterols and fatty acids, such as linolenic,
palmitic, and oleic acid.
Due to the number of steroidal glycosides present in Maca root, it is gaining popularity among weight lifters and bodybuilders as a natural alternative to anabolic steroids.*

In Peru, this herb has been used as an aphrodisiac for both men and women,
to increase energy, vitality, stamina, and endurance in athletes, promote
mental clarity, for fertility and to increase male seminal fluid volume,
sperm count and sperm motility, for treating male impotence and erectile
