Description Supplement Facts

Hawthorn is an all-around great heart tonic for long-term use in cardiac pathology and for general preventative heart health. It is for virtually all heart-related symptoms and is a great preventative of cardiac disease. Procyanidins have been extensively studied and show cardiac efficacy, but the whole full-spectrum extract shows efficacy where no one constituent can replicate, so the full-spectrum extract is preferred. Hawthorn is a famous, time-tested cardiac tonic for high blood pressure and high pulse rates, angina pain, arrhythmia, and palpitations. It will help to increase the cardiac output of blood volume and increase the efficiency of the heart. It is indicated for cardiac insufficiency, increases cardiac work tolerance, and decreases pressure and heart rate. It may help angina and feelings of pressure and tightness. Anxious heart complaints including palpitations may also be helped by Hawthorn. Obviously, any heart symptom should be taken with the utmost concern and diagnosed by a competent health care professional. Hawthorn does not replace cardiac medication by itself, but along with lifestyle changes including diet, exercise, and stress management, anything is possible.

Hawthorn is used to help protect against heart disease and help control high blood pressure and as well as high cholesterol. Both animal and human studies suggest hawthorn increases coronary artery blood flow, improves circulation, and lowers blood pressure. It has also been used on the skin to treat boils and skin sores.

Animal and laboratory studies report hawthorn contains antioxidants, including oligomeric procyanidins (OPCs, also found in grapes) and quercetin. Antioxidants are substances that destroy free radicals, which are compounds in the body that damage cell membranes, tamper with DNA, and even cause cell death. Free radicals occur naturally in the body and grow in number as we age. Environmental toxins (including ultraviolet light, radiation, smoking, some medicines, and air pollution) can also increase the number of these damaging particles. Scientists believe free radicals contribute to the aging process (such as wrinkling), as well as the development of a number of health problems, including cancer and heart disease. Antioxidants in hawthorn may help stop some of the damage from free radicals, especially when it comes to heart disease. https://www.mountsinai.org/health-library/herb/ha...
