Vitamin C - Studies Showing Reduction in Mortality Rate

One large study started in 1999-2000 and went for 16 years showed that participants with high Vitamin C levels in their blood at the start of the study had a significantly lower risk of dying now. The differences were dramatic showing that the highest levels of Vitamin C versus the lowest levels were 25% less likely to die. The two main diseases that seemed to benefit the most from high Vitamin C levels were Cancer and Heart Disease.

Many other studies have shown a definite link between Vitamin C and a long, healthy life.

Another benefit of Vitamin C is how it promotes a great immune system to fight off viral respiratory infections (i.e., the common cold). Low Vitamin C levels leave us vulnerable to disease-causing microbes.

Vitamin C was shown to preserve crucial cardiac stem cells which are required for healing damaged heart tissue. Also, 2 grams of Vitamin C a day restored an important cardiovascular repair system in smokers after just two weeks of taking supplements, giving them the same healing capacity as non-smokers.
