A review published in 2016 in the Journal of Nutrition showed the following benefits when taking Garlic supplements:

§ A reduction in systolic blood pressure

Chronic inflammation has a role in the formation and progression of atherosclerotic plaques. Garlic has been shown to inhibit inflammation.

In another study done in 2017 showed that Garlic enhance the regulation of nitric oxide, which in induces smooth muscle-cell relaxation, vasodilation, and blood pressure reduction.

The study found that the Garlic extract works best in those who need it most. It also showed that taking Garlic extracts for over two months led to a 10% reduction in total and LDL cholesterol in patients with slightly elevated cholesterol levels

Garlic supplements are very well tolerated may be considered as a complementary option to be taken with prescribed medications for hypertension, slightly elevated cholesterol and stimulation of immunity.
