One of the most active constituents in Maitake and Shiitake mushroom is believed to be a beta-glucan polysaccharide that powers up the immune system. A study from Harvard Medical School found animals treated with beta-glucan were more resistant to bacterial, viral, and fungal inundation. Beta-glucan treatment stimulated the proliferation of white blood cells and increased phagocytic macrophage activity. A concentrated beta-glucan extract is added to Immuno-Well Rx to further increase the formula’s immune-enhancing properties.
