Curcumin – The Amazing Benefits for Memory and Mood - Double blind Study

With all the information coming to light on the effects of Curcumin , I wanted to discuss a Double-Blind Trial that was performed with Curcumin on people with mild Age Related Cognitive Decline .

This Double-Blind Trial included 40 total participants, all between the ages of 50 years of age to 90 years, all of which had mild memory issues, but none of them had Dementia. These men and women were given Curcumin or a placebo two times per day for a total of 18 months.

At the beginning of the trial there were cognitive tests administered, then again, every 6 months. These participants also received PET Scans in the beginning and at the end of the trial to assess the presence of brain amyloids, amyloids are aggregates of proteins that become folded into a shape that allows many copies of that protein to stick together, forming fibrils which are always increased in Alzheimer’s patients.

The trial showed those participants who were given the Curcumin showed significant improvement in memory, attention and emotional functions when the Trial concluded. The participants who received the placebo showed no improvement or effects.
